August, Keeping Cool this Summer!

As the temperature rises this summer, we are here to help you find solutions for you & your loved ones to keep cool! Some ways to keep cool are as simple as investing in ceiling fans, AC units/packages, proper insulation, and Low E double pane windows. To minimize the heat and be kind to your wallet, a budget friendly solution is investing in ceiling fans. An excellent choice about ceiling fans is the many brands they offer. There are different styles and function options available to you. For example, there are many choices in color, material, lighting options, remote operated, or even the standard flip of the switch.

If you are looking for a long-term investment, AC unit & packages is an option just for you. Most AC units/packages' longevity fluctuates between 15 to 20 years! Depending on your budget and your needs, the price may also vary, but if you go this route, it will be an investment well spent. There are many different types of units/packages available to you, such as wall, window, or inside the ceiling installation (ductless). Each of these types have different capabilities, operating functions, and AC outputs.

Another choice for energy savings cost is proper insulation. If you live in an older home, chances are your home needs insulation or is due for an upgrade. The use of insulation is a great way to help considerably in maintaining cold or warm weather. Insulation offers a number of reasons that are beneficial such as noise reduction, provides fire protection, reduces the risk of moisture, and reduce the heat coming from outside during the warm seasons. Insulation is used in crawl spaces, walls, attics, ceilings, and floors. Without insulation, air can enter your home through walls, floors, and ceilings, which can create a temperature problem in your home. If you install an AC unit and do not have proper insulation then the unit will work harder to keep your programmed temperature from working properly, thus increasing the utility bill. There are many different types of insulation such as, loose-fill, batts, rolls, foam board, spray foam and radiant barriers. Depending on your needs and budget insulation varies.

Another solution, again depending on the flexibility of your wallet, are windows. With many brands, style, opening options, materials and colors to choose from, Low E double pane windows are a great source to keep the heat out of your home and the electrical bill out of your wallet. These windows reduce the UV transmittance by almost 75% over clear glass. They help improve thermal performance and deflect heat from outside, which lowers cooling and heating costs. They are cost effective, non-toxic, and long lasting. The newer low-E coatings are more durable than the older types and they are more securely bonded to the glass. A great bonus from these windows is that they filter out harmful UV rays which prevent your carpet, hardwood floors, furniture and other items in your home from fading in the sunlight.

When choosing any of these heat fighting products this summer, be sure to keep in mind the product of your choice and what each specific one offers. For example, think about noise reduction, maintenance, installation, power source, and what works best for your budget needs. Here at ACM Construction & Builder Group we have installed all of these types of products. We are very familiar with these and also comply with HOA & the city permits if needed.
